Integrated DNA Technologies’ $10 Million Expansion Opens

CORALVILLE, Iowa--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 22, 2006--Already the largest supplier of custom nucleic acids in the U.S., Integrated DNA Technologies, Inc. (IDT) has just doubled its research, support and production capacity.

Today the company officially opened its new 77,000 sq. ft., $10 million headquarters expansion. The increased space and resources ensure that the firm is positioned to respond to increasing demand for its products, while maintaining its industry leading quality, service, and order-turnaround performance.

In particular the new building enables a significant expansion of the company’s HPLC, R&D and production capabilities.

IDT’s continuing growth follows the January 2006 opening of its first satellite facility, in San Diego, CA., and recent acquisitions of GenBase Inc. (San Diego, CA.), and Synthegen, Inc (Houston, TX).

“This facility allows us to expand our production, research and customer service capabilities to maintain the quality, timeliness, and support our customer value,” noted Integrated DNA Technologies COO Trey Martin. “It also means we can maintain and improve our performance in these areas for a long time to come. This new building is not only a project completed, but also the start of a new phase of development for us.”

The opening of IDT’s newest expansion in Coralville represents the latest step in the growth of the organization, according to President and CEO Dr. Joe Walder. “Given the growing and changing needs of the Life Sciences industries, and the positive influence of our employees, we recognize the ongoing value in expanding our presence here. IDT is proud to call Coralville home, and we’re looking forward to even more success in the future.

IDT’s Coralville headquarters - the foundation for the company’s success since 1987 - currently supports the employment of 338 area residents; and 400 people across all its locations. The $10-million expansion will increase that number by up to 50% over the next 24 months so that IDT can accommodate the increased business not only from the U.S. but from its planned European push.

From its headquarters in Coralville, its satellite facility in San Diego, and its offices in Illinois and Montreal, IDT supports academic research, biotechnology, and pharmaceutical development by manufacturing the highest quality custom nucleic acids at competitive prices, and delivering the fastest order turnaround times.
