BOSTON, Oct. 4 (Reuters) - Insulet Corp (PODD.O: Quote, Profile, Research) said on Thursday it will outsource production of its insulin pump for diabetics to contract engineering company Flextronics International Ltd (FLEX.O: Quote, Profile, Research), a move that will put the device maker on track for profitability in 2009.
Insulet's shares have risen 51 percent since its initial public offering in May, amid high hopes for a device that some consider more convenient than traditional pumps such as those made by Medtronic Inc (MDT.N: Quote, Profile, Research), the market leader.
