LEXINGTON, Mass., July 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Instrumentation Laboratory (IL), a worldwide developer, manufacturer and distributor of in vitro diagnostic instruments, related reagents and services, today announced its plan for a comprehensive, "50 and Forward" program to celebrate the Company's 50th anniversary in 2009. The "50 and Forward" program of events and activities will kick-off with an official industry launch and celebration at July's American Association of Clinical Chemistry (AACC) 2008 Conference (Booth #2703).
Celebration Will Recognize IL Customers and Employees
The "50 and Forward" celebration is planned as a program of events and activities to recognize IL's customers -- especially long-term customers -- and employees.
The cornerstone of the program's many activities will be the establishment of an award called "The Passion and Results" Awards for customers. Top laboratorians, physicians and nurses and their institutions who have gone "above and beyond" to enhance the quality of patient care will receive an award and an educational grant to their institution to recognize their "passion and results." Additionally, their compelling stories will be told and posted in multiple IL venues and industry publications.
"There are so many outstanding healthcare professionals going above and beyond every day to help improve patient care, and these awards are a way of acknowledging those individuals and their efforts," said Josep Manent, CEO of IL. "'Passion and results' also embodies what IL stands for. We are always striving to discover and identify better technology with the goal of giving healthcare providers the best, most valuable tools, so they can provide the best care for their patients."
"As we celebrate IL's achievements, we'll be recognizing and rewarding our customers -- the laboratorians, researchers, and point-of-care providers -- as well as our own employees -- who have contributed so much to our success in our first 50 years," said Ramon Benet, VP of Worldwide Marketing and US Sales and Service at IL. "This is an opportunity to reflect on our past and look forward to our future as industry leaders and innovators."
IL's Distinguished History of "Firsts" Will Be Celebrated
Instrumentation Laboratory has a long list of industry firsts and innovations to celebrate. Among many other firsts are: the first direct reading pH/blood gas analyzer (1959); the invention of CO-Oximetry (1967); the first information management system for blood gas (1989); the first standardized Critical Care testing platform for all hospital locations (2000); the first and only automated active total quality control system (2002); and coming in Q4 2008, the greatly-anticipated ACL AcuStar(R) -- the first fully automated random-access analyzer dedicated to specialty assays in hemostasis testing.
As Ramon Benet noted, "IL has a powerful 50-year legacy. We intend to leverage our pride in our achievements with our passion for continued innovation in our next 50 years."
Harnessing the Power of IL Experts
In July 2008, IL will announce a "50 and Forward" ILeader Panel of experts and speakers who will be available to the press and for forums, webcasts, roundtables and other discussion venues during the celebration period. The ILeader Panel will also adjudicate the "Passion and Results" Awards. Interested persons should contact IL's Sally McCraven at 781-861-4577 or smccraven@ilww.com.
