CRANBURY, N.J., Dec. 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Innophos Holdings, Inc. , the parent company of Innophos, Inc., today announced that Innophos will complete the first in a series of planned projects to debottleneck its Waterway (Chicago, IL) facility in the 1st half of 2008 to meet increased Sodium Hexametaphosphate (SHMP) demand in the US. When completed, this $1.5 million investment is expected to increase SHMP capacity by approximately 15 percent. The investment is part of the company’s previously announced capital investment plan, and the spending will occur in 2008. In addition to providing increased capacity, completion of the project will strengthen Innophos’ already significant commitment to Good Manufacturing Processes.
Tim Treinen, VP Performance Chemicals -- Innophos, stated, “The capital investment at our Waterway facility is necessary to meet increasing customer demand brought on by a new set of market dynamics in all SHMP market segments and demonstrates Innophos’ ongoing commitment to our SHMP business. The US Department of Commerce issued a preliminary anti-dumping duty in September on SHMP from China. This ruling has restored conditions of fair trade to the market and has resulted in a significant increase in demand for US produced SHMP.”
