BATESVILLE, Ind., April 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Hill-Rom, the health care unit of Hillenbrand Industries, Inc., , announced that Richard Mussmann has been named Vice President, Global Product Development and Chief Technology Officer. The creation of this new role reinforces the strategic focus by Hill-Rom on research, development and innovation and furthers the company’s growth strategy communicated previously.
“Rich’s understanding of technology platforms combined with his broad- based technical expertise in many engineering areas will be invaluable in helping us continue to build a world-class product development capability,” said Peter H. Soderberg, CEO and president of Hillenbrand Industries and Hill- Rom.

With significant experience in innovation and product development in the medical technology business, Mussmann has served in key leadership roles with some of the best companies in the industry. His most recent position was Vice President, Global Infusion Systems R&D, at Baxter Healthcare. Before that he served as Vice President, Arrhythmia Management Research & Business Development at Medtronic. Previously he had worked in a key product development role at Johnson & Johnson’s Ethicon Endo-Surgical unit.
Mussmann holds a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University.
