PALO ALTO, Calif. (AP) -- Hewlett-Packard Co. and medical device developer Crospon said Tuesday they signed a licensing deal for a patch that painlessly releases medications through the skin. Unlike transdermal patches, which rely on absorption through the skin and have long been used for smoking cessation programs, HP’s skin patch uses tiny needles to deliver the drugs intradermally -- just below the surface of the skin. HP said the patch allows for the painless delivery of medications on lower and more precise dosages.
