Paris, October 1st, 2009, France Biotech (the French association of life science companies and their partners: www.france-biotech.org) is to run a special workshop on technology convergence on October 15th, 2009. Technology convergence is one of today’s most promising medical approaches and has already opened up significant therapeutic perspectives.
The France Biotech workshop intends to facilitate scientific and technological dialogue between major healthcare industry players and respond to medical challenges in three main disease areas:
- ophthalmology
- cardiology
- diabetology
Each session will last about one hour and will be divided into three parts: (i) an overview of the disease area, (ii) opportunities for the convergence of expertise and (iii) perspectives for new therapeutic solutions. All sessions will be illustrated with examples of complex bioprostheses at various stages of development: a retinal implant, an artificial heart, and an artificial pancreas, all of which could revolutionize medical care.
Thanks to seminars and testimonials from medical industry experts and internationally renowned stakeholders, the workshop will generate debate and catalyze the formation of alliances between attendees.
The workshop is by invitation only but the full programme is available online (http://www.france-biotech.org/workshop-france-biotech-le-15-octobre-prochain/) and a summary will be provided on request.
