SAN MATEO, Calif., May 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Epocrates Inc., provider of mobile and online clinical applications for healthcare professionals, today announced the appointment of David Nagel to its board of directors. Nagel will serve as Epocrates' independent lead director and chair the board's compensation committee.
Nagel is well recognized for his most recent role as president and chief executive officer of PalmSource, Inc., developer of operating system software platforms for handheld devices and smartphones. Nagel is currently president of Ascona Group.
"David Nagel is an exceptional addition to our board of directors. His leadership and experience in mobile and wireless technology will be valuable in guiding our management team," said Kirk Loevner, chairman and chief executive officer of Epocrates.
Nagel's extensive technology experience also includes senior management roles at several leading companies, including chief technology officer at AT&T and president of AT&T Labs. Nagel served as senior vice president at Apple Computer where he managed the advanced technology group and led the worldwide research and development group.
