Flooding Damages Hemispherx’s Newly-Renovated North Jersey Plant

Hemispherx's Biopharma's newly renovated manufacturing plant in North Jersey was damaged in a flood earlier this month, according to documents filed late Friday by the Philadelphia biotechnology company.

Last year, Hemispherx (NYSE: HEB) completed a $8 million upgrade of the site that included automating the process for making Alferon N, it's lone approved product. The company stopped making Alferon N, a treatment for genital warts, in 2008 because of its high labor costs associated with manual processes in manufacturing the injectable drug.
