John Schulte, the former president and CEO of Spectranetics Corp., has been sentenced to a year’s probation on a count of lying to federal investigators, The Gazette reports.
Schulte, who ran the Colorado Springs-based medical laser manufacturer until his resignation in 2008, was facing as much as three years in prison. He was acquitted in March on 11 other charges, including smuggling unapproved medical devices into the country.
He and two other Spectranetics executives were indicted by a federal grand jury in 2010 in the wake of an investigation into allegations the company was illegally importing and marketing unapproved medical devices.
