NEW YORK, August 22 - Leading epigenetics company Epigentek, located in Farmingdale, NY, has developed and released a research kit (http://www.epigentek.com/catalog/epiquik-histone-h3-modification-multiplex-assay-kit-colorimetric-p-3606.html) that can detect up to twenty one post-translational histone H3 modification patterns simultaneously on a 96-well microplate in less than 3 hours. This multiplex assay product enables researchers in academic, biotech, and pharmaceutical institutions to quickly and conveniently screen compounds for potential biomarkers toward epigenetic-based drug development, as well as to study histone modifications in general.

Post-translational modifications of histones, including acetylation, phosphorylation, and methylation, have been defined as notable epigenetic modifiers. Abnormal histone modification patterns have been associated with many different diseases such as cancer, autoimmune disorders, and inflammatory and neurological diseases. Subsequently, detection of histone H3 modifications would provide useful information for a better understanding of epigenetic regulation of gene activation and silencing, histone modification-associated pathological processes of diseases, as well as development of histone modification-targeted drugs.

For years Epigentek has offered a series of kits for singleplex quantification of each histone H3 modification pattern. Due to increasing interest in histone H3 modifications in the epigenetic research community, Epigentek brings its expertise into this novel ELISA-like multiplex product, the EpiQuik Histone H3 Modification Multiplex Assay Kit, as the first multiplex assay capable of detecting up to 21 of the most important and well-characterized modified histone H3 patterns simultaneously in a high throughput format. The high sensitivity of the kit can detect as low as 0.5 ng per well of each modification pattern with a detection range of 20 ng to 500 ng per well of histone extract inputs.
