SANTA CLARA, Calif., July 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Eklin Medical Systems, a leader in digital radiography (DR), PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) and Practice Information Management Software (PIMS) for the veterinary care market, announced the company has recently installed several more RapidStudy(TM) DR systems throughout the UK and Europe. Countries now offering this leading imaging technology include Ireland, England, Spain, France, the Netherlands and Belgium.
“In determining which DR system to buy, several factors were critical in our decision-making process including image and system quality plus ease-of- use,” said Shane Fouhy, MVB, MRCVS, founder of the Hampshire Equine Clinic in East Worldham, England. “The RapidStudy DR system easily fulfilled these criteria and surpassed any other system we considered. Most importantly, however, we chose the RapidStudy system because of the quality technical back- up Eklin provides.”
Just as digital cameras have made photography more efficient by eliminating film, the Eklin RapidStudy DR system provides the veterinarian with a radiographic image that can be viewed immediately on a high-resolution monitor without need for film developing. The Eklin DR system also offers sophisticated image processing tools, giving the veterinarian much greater depth of information that can be enlarged or manipulated for far better detail. Eklin offers either a 9"x11" (22.8cm x 27.9cm) active image area or the industry’s only full-size 14"x17" (35.6cm x 43.2cm) active image area.
“The RapidStudy system already has provided a major benefit to my practice,” said Fouhy. “As primarily an ambulatory practice, it is essential we get quality images in the field. Knowing we have achieved this while still at the patient’s site is a substantial clinical and economical advantage. This has revolutionized our pre-purchase examinations, allowing us to travel all over the UK and Europe, confident of obtaining diagnostic images. Client appreciation of the system has been high, with many commenting that they regarded digital radiography as a positive step forward for the practice.”
Images can be stored and archived for future evaluation using the Eklin PACS which is based on DICOM 3.0 standards used by hospitals and clinics around the world.
“Our rapid and substantial growth in Europe, especially during the first half of this year, indicates there is a burgeoning demand for digital imaging and archiving technology within veterinary practices,” said Robert Haddad, vice president of international operations for Eklin. “We are pleased by the markedly increased demand for our technology as it becomes recognized as the leader in digital radiography and PACS for this important market on a global basis.”
