A deal hammered out by Nassau County executive and the Industrial Development Agency will keep a pharma firm located in Westbury and bring 150 jobs to the area. Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano and the NCIDA announced the approval of an economic development compact that will allow a pharmaceutical company with 569 employees to remain in Westbury. The compact, which requires the company to create 150 new jobs, will produce an estimated $1.2 billion in new economic benefit to Nassau County. The company, PL Developments, had been courted by other states, including Florida where they have other operations, to relocate their workforce. The compact allows PL Developments, a manufacturer of over-the-counter pharmaceuticals and packaging, to renovate an existing 171,166 s/f building at 200 Hicks St. and purchase, renovate and equip a 102,000 s/f building at 609-2 Cantiague Rock Rd.
