FRANKLIN LAKES, N.J., Feb. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Collagen Matrix, Inc. announced today that it has signed an agreement with Stryker Corporation for the exclusive worldwide distribution of its DuraMatrix(TM) Collagen Dura Substitute Membrane. Since January of 2005, DuraMatrix has been marketed by Collagen Matrix and sold through a network of independent agents and distributors in the U.S. and Europe. Effective immediately, Collagen Matrix will begin transitioning the distribution of DuraMatrix to the Stryker Craniomaxillofacial sales and marketing team. In order to maintain consistency and provide for a smooth transition for our customers, the product will continue to carry the DuraMatrix trade name owned by Collagen Matrix.
DuraMatrix is a safe, resorbable, conformable, collagen-based membrane intended for use as a dura substitute in the repair of dura mater. The unique conformability of the membrane combined with its mechanical strength allows the membrane matrix to be implanted with or without sutures (“onlay”). Animal and clinical studies have shown that the DuraMatrix resorbs slowly over time to allow for host tissue regeneration.
“We are very excited about collaborating with a world-class company such as Stryker for the sales, marketing and distribution of DuraMatrix. The excellent design and performance of the product combined with Stryker’s expertise in sales and marketing should dramatically increase DuraMatrix’s presence in the field,” said Shu-Tung Li, Ph.D., President and CEO of Collagen Matrix.
