Codexis, Inc. Expands Senior Management Team

REDWOOD CITY, Calif., April 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Codexis, Inc., a private biotechnology company, today announced expansion of its senior management team with the addition of two new positions. Joseph Sarret, M.D., J.D. has been named Vice President, Corporate Development and Douglas Sheehy, J.D. has been appointed Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary. Both will report to Alan Shaw, Ph.D., President and CEO.

Dr. Sarret was previously Director, Business Development and Corporate Counsel for Codexis. He joined the company in 2005, and has managed corporate development activities in the company’s life sciences and energy areas as well as legal activities. He was previously an associate at Latham & Watkins LLP, where he provided legal services to life sciences companies. He also served as attending physician and later Acting Medical Director for the HIV Clinic at the University of California, San Francisco Medical Center. Dr. Sarret is a graduate of both the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine and Stanford Law School. He holds a bachelor’s degree in human biology from Stanford, where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa.

Mr. Sheehy joins Codexis from CV Therapeutics, Inc., a publicly-traded biopharmaceutical company, where he served for five years, most recently as Executive Director, Legal -- Corporate Law. While at CV Therapeutics, Mr. Sheehy was responsible for legal management of corporate and securities matters, manufacturing activities, clinical research and commercialization matters. In addition, Mr. Sheehy played a key role in raising over $1 billion in numerous equity and debt offerings. Previously, he served as an attorney for six years with the law firms of Gunderson Dettmer LLP and Brobeck Phleger & Harrison, where he represented public and private technology and life sciences companies. Mr. Sheehy holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Dartmouth College and a J.D. from American University, where he graduated cum laude and was Editor-in-Chief of the American University Law Review.
