CHICAGO, Sept. 5, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Clune Construction Company (Clune) is honored to be the contractor for major capital improvements to Hadley, a learning organization dedicated to empowering those with vision loss to thrive, at home, at work and in their communities. Clune is providing full general contracting services alongside Chicago-based Fitzgerald Architecture Planning Design, led by principal architect Dani Fitzgerald and project manager Paco Orozco, and BTR Engineers. JLL is serving as the owner’s representative.
Hadley’s building, located at 700 Elm Street in Winnetka, Illinois, will receive improvements to better serve the community and the organization’s staff, which develops and provides distance learning for visually impaired individuals around the world. Built in the 1950s, the building’s extensive structural modifications include two vertical additions increasing the square footage by nearly 25%. The added space allows Hadley to expand their current boardroom and add new conference rooms creating common areas for community outreach and education. Clune anticipates construction to last eight months - with January 15, 2019 as the target completion date. Hadley will kick off the grand reopening with a celebration in early 2019.
“Clune is honored to be leading the construction efforts on this major building expansion and upgrade,” said Clune Construction’s Healthcare Team Leader Pat Kinsella. “Once complete, this project will give Hadley a state of the art building from which to continue their global mission of helping people of all ages live more productive lives with vision loss. It is projects and clients like this that make our job as contractors so rewarding.”
The Trusted Choice for Implementing Technology & Collaboration
As a leader in innovation, Hadley developed an interactive learning center with virtual reality simulation. Building a space to achieve their goal requires a production studio with enhanced A/V capabilities, advanced technology and telecommunication systems, and space to promote collaboration and creativity. Clune and the project team are working closely with Hadley throughout the construction process to address any concerns including lighting design, navigation systems, and office layout. The center will be open to the public, helping the community experience what it is like to have visual impairments and learn about cutting-edge technologies that are improving lives across the country.
“This project will allow Hadley to turn out state of the art content quickly, and ultimately serve more people who have vision loss,” said Julie Tye, President of Hadley. “Clune’s reputation for integrity and experience with interior renovations made them the trusted choice.”
