Dr. Stewart’s presentation is entitled, “Molecular Imaging for the Detection of Kidney Tumor Margins” and will be given on the morning of Sunday, February 8, 2015 as part of the Advanced Biomedical and Clinical Diagnostic and Surgical Guidance Systems XIII program at BiOS. The research focuses on the development of an intraoperative tool to provide diagnostic information to surgeons in real-time and without the use of labels (i.e. reagents) by employing Molecular Chemical Imaging (MCI). These findings could lead to more specific and sensitive methods for tumor detection that will reduce the risk of cancer and the need for additional operations during cancer treatment.

“I’m greatly looking forward to presenting our findings at Photonics West,” said Dr. Stewart. “I am eager to share the results of our research with thought leaders in the biomedical spectroscopy community.”

BiOS is the world’s largest biophotonics and biomedical optics conference featuring over 2,700 presentations on clinical, translational, and fundamental research and development in the field of biomedical optics. More than 5,000 attendees are expected this year.
