Carestream Health, Inc. Reports Strong Sales For DRX Retrofit Kit That Quickly, Affordably Converts Systems To Wireless DR

ROCHESTER, N.Y., Nov. 2 — Carestream Health reports strong sales and favorable customer feedback for its CARESTREAM DRX-Mobile Retrofit Kit, which quickly and affordably upgrades mobile x-ray systems to help enhance care for seriously ill or injured patients. The retrofit kit’s wireless DR detector offers clinicians immediate access to images used for diagnosis and verification of tube and line placements for patients in emergency rooms, operating rooms and the ICU.

Carestream Health is the only company with software that uses a single exposure to display an enhanced companion image with more precise visualization of lines and tubes. It is also the only company whose wireless detector can be used with a mobile system and then moved to room-based imaging systems to meet workflow demands throughout the facility. “Our DRX portfolio not only delivers unique capabilities, it combines excellent image quality with features and flexibility that allow healthcare providers to lower costs and embrace a smooth, affordable transition to DR for in-room and mobile systems,” said Diana L. Nole, President, Digital Medical Solutions, Carestream Health.

U.S. healthcare providers that recently ordered the DRX-Mobile retrofit kit include:

- Carolinas Health Systems, Charlotte, N.C.

- Marion General Hospital, Marion, Ohio

- Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, Toledo, Ohio

- Roper St. Francis Mount Pleasant Hospital, Mount Pleasant, S.C., and

- Via Christi Regional Medical Center, Wichita, Kan.

Marion General Hospital recently retrofitted an existing portable system used for its imaging ICU, ER and surgical patients. “Retrofitting our mobile system with a DRX-1 detector greatly improves both the speed of access to images and visualization of tubes and lines,” said Kimlyn Queen, Marion General’s Director of Imaging and Cardiac Catheterization Services. “All of our surgeons and physicians want to use the DRX-based portable because of these benefits, so we hope to order more DRX-Mobile Retrofit Kits in 2011.”

Wireless Detector Improves Productivity, Patient Comfort

The optional Tube and Line Visualization Feature is available with all DRX systems and both DRX-1 and DRX-1C detectors. The retrofit kit can be quickly and easily integrated with GE AMX-4, GE AMX-4 Plus, Siemens Mobilett Plus, Siemens Mobilett XP, Siemens Mobilett XP Hybrid, Shimadzu MobileArt, Shimadzu MobileArt Plus and Shimadzu Evolution. DRX detectors improve patient positioning and comfort by eliminating cables and tethers typically required by most DR-based systems.

In addition to the DRX-1 detector, a new cesium iodide-based CARESTREAM DRX-1C detector offers exceptional image quality and improved DQE (detective quantum efficiency).

The DRX-1 system can convert analog x-ray rooms to DR technology in less than one day and the fully automated DRX-Evolution suite offers enhanced patient positioning and comfort, along with exceptional staff productivity.
