BLS Report Shows Steady Increase in Healthcare Employment & Wages

The latest Employment Situation report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that employment for healthcare workers is slowly but surely returning to its pre-pandemic levels.

The latest Employment Situation report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that employment for healthcare workers is slowly but surely returning to its pre-pandemic levels.

The report found that 372,000 new jobs were added in June, with employment for healthcare occupations rising by 57,000, bringing the total number of healthcare workers back to within about 176,000 of its pre-pandemic level.

This is good news for the millions of Americans who work in the healthcare industry, as well as for the economy as a whole. Healthcare is one of the most important sectors of the economy, and its continued growth is essential to the nation’s long-term prosperity, especially as the pandemic continues to cause problems for other sectors of the economy and healthcare professionals continue working tirelessly to clean up what is hopefully the tail end of this mess.

Despite this positive news, there are still some slight areas of concern that should be noted. The unemployment rate, for instance, has refused to budge from 3.7% for the fourth month in a row. This means that while more people are finding jobs, many are still struggling to find work as employers struggle to keep up with the demand for workers.

This is especially true in the healthcare industry, where the need for workers has been growing rapidly in recent years. According to the report, there are still roughly 800,000 unemployed healthcare workers, which is a significant increase from the pre-pandemic level of roughly 608,000.

However, it is worth mentioning that this is an impressive improvement from the early days of the pandemic when the unemployment rate in healthcare was as high as 8.6%. This shows that the healthcare industry has been able to make a significant recovery in a relatively short period of time.

To put these numbers into perspective, there are now roughly 21.2 million people employed in both the healthcare and education industry, which is a substantial improvement from the 19.8 million who were employed during the peak of the pandemic.

The report also found that wages for healthcare workers have continued to grow at a steady pace. In June, the average hourly earnings for healthcare workers rose $0.19, from $31.53 to $31.72. This is good news for healthcare workers, who have seen their wages stagnate in recent years and have been increasingly struggling to make ends meet.

Although there’s still a bit of a way to go, the latest employment report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that the healthcare industry is slowly but surely getting back on its feet. With continued growth in employment and wages, we can expect the healthcare industry to return to its former glory in no time.
