Bio-Rad Laboratories, Inc. Technical Note Describes Chromatographic Method Monitoring

HERCULES, Calif., April 21, 2008 – Bio-Rad Laboratories, Inc. (AMEX: BIO and BIOb), a multinational manufacturer and distributor of life science research and clinical diagnostic products, announced today the availability of a technical note (tech note 5506A) entitled, “Monitoring Development of Chromatographic Methods with the Experion™ Automated Electrophoresis System,” which demonstrates how the Experion automated electrophoresis system and associated Pro260 analysis kit can be used together to accelerate the process of developing a purification scheme for an antibody or other protein.

The technical note provides an analysis of methods enabling the Experion Pro260, which is comparable to traditional SDS-PAGE in terms of performance (Chang et al. 2005, Zhu et al. 2005) but also in meeting the need for quick data acquisition during process development.

The four-page technical note is available by visiting the Bio-Rad website at http://www.bio-rad.com/cmc_upload/Literature/204027/Bulletin_5506A.pdf.

About the Experion Automated Electrophoresis System

Using a combination of microfluidics and electrophoresis, Bio-Rad’s Experion electrophoresis system enables sensitive, high resolution separation and data analysis of protein and RNA samples. The system offers a number of advantages over traditional gel electrophoresis, such as faster results, reduced sample and reagent usage, automatic calculations, reduced hands-on time, and elimination of the challenges of having to work with hazardous materials typically associated with these applications. For example, Experion analysis — from sample preparation through the chip run — can be achieved in as little as 30 minutes compared to the two-to-three hours generally required for SDS-PAGE.
