“Baby Goo” Could Be Moisturizer

The creamy substance which covers newborn babies could be copied to create a highly effective moisturizer, scientists claim. Researchers from the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital say vernix protects a baby’s skin while it is in the womb. In New Scientist magazine, they say a synthetic version could be used to help premature babies whose skin has not fully developed. But they say it could also be used as a moisturising cream by adults. Vernix could also be used as a nappy-rash cream or lotion for people with eczema or psoriasis.
