University Pain Management Center In Tampa To Apply For JCAHO Accreditation

TAMPA, Fla., July 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Somnia, Inc. has signed an agreement with the University Pain Management Center in Tampa, Florida to guide them through the process of achieving Office-Based Surgery Accreditation from the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). JCAHO’s rigorous survey process is a testament to providing the safest level of care in ambulatory operating environments.

Under the agreement, Somnia’s veteran physicians and accreditation experts will work on location with the clinical and administrative staff of the pain management center to ensure that their operating policies are in line with the latest patient safety and quality standards. An in-depth education on issues such as patient safety, risk management, infection control, performance improvement and medication practices will be conducted with the physicians and nursing staff.

In an effort to promote cost containment and reduce the overall financial burden on the healthcare system, Somnia’s realigned mission is to encourage the safe and effective migration of less intensive surgeries from the hospital to the office-based surgical facility or ambulatory surgery center (ASC). “The decision to achieve JCAHO accreditation reinforces the University Pain Management Center’s commitment to patient safety and providing an optimum level of care,” said Syed R. Ishaq, national director of accreditation and consulting services for Somnia, Inc.
