The Dallas PRP And Stem Cell Institute Announces New Orthopedic Study

DALLAS, June 6, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The Dallas PRP and Stem Cell Institute, a nationally recognized treatment center founded by orthopedic surgeons, announces a new clinical trial that is currently open for enrollment. The Institute is enrolling patients with rotator cuff tears in a stem cell research trial designed to evaluate if surgery can be avoided by injecting torn rotator cuff tendons with stem cells to help the body heal itself. The stem cells come from the patients’ own bone marrow and the procedure is done in the office under local anesthesia. “Our hope is that by using patients’ own stem cells, reinjected at the site of an injury, we can create a healing response,” said Don Buford, MD, orthopedic surgeon and founder of the Institute. “There are many orthopedic injuries where our bodies need help healing and we hope to be able to provide that in an office based stem cell procedure that eliminates or delays the need for surgery,” said Dr. Buford.
