St. John Health Announces Providence Park Campus Expansion To Include Inpatient Care Facilities

WARREN, Mich., July 20 /PRNewswire/ -- St. John Health today announced it will expand its Providence Park campus located on Grand River in Novi to include 200 inpatient private beds, a full-service emergency department, fully interventional operating rooms and state-of-the-art imaging technology among other services. As part of the expansion, St. John will transfer 200 beds from its facilities in Oakland and Livingston Counties to the Providence Park facility, an act made possible by Judge James R. Giddings reaffirming the constitutionality of Public Act 619.

“We are thrilled to be able to add inpatient beds to our Providence Park facility,” said Elliot Joseph, president and CEO of St. John Health. “The residents of Novi, Northville, South Lyon, Wixom and Walled Lake along with the police and fire departments have expressed serious concern at the constant delays in providing needed inpatient beds in this rapidly growing community,” he says. “This is wonderful news for the residents of western Oakland County as well as all of the residents served by St. John Health since it improves access to services in a growing community.

Currently, Providence Park is a multi-faceted campus offering a comprehensive array of outpatient diagnostic and therapeutic services, 24-hour emergency care center and a cancer center among other services. Adding inpatient beds to Providence Park will mean that the community will have access to a full-service hospital in a rapidly growing community. In addition to the 200 private inpatient beds, plans for the new facility include a full- service Emergency Department, inpatient and outpatient pediatric services, a dedicated pediatric unit and pediatric short stay unit, fully expanded operating rooms and imaging technology, a Neuroscience Institute, a Musculoskeletal Center of Excellence, a large Fitness and Wellness Center as well as a dedicated and consolidated Women’s Services area.

“For many years, the communities that we serve have voiced their concerns to us about not having a hospital in close proximity to address inpatient health care needs,” said Robert Casalou, president, Providence Hospital and Medical Centers. “These communities can take great comfort in knowing that improved access to comprehensive health care services will soon be available in the very rapidly growing area.”

St. John Health/Providence has been engaged in the planning and design process for an expanded facility for many months and is in a position to move forward immediately in accordance with local approvals.

St. John Health is the largest provider of inpatient care in Southeast Michigan and one of the largest employers in metro Detroit.
