Scient’x, S.A. Appoints New CEO

NEW YORK, Jan. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Scient’x, S.A. announced today that veteran orthopedic industry executive, Michael D. Huggins, will join the company as its President and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Huggins will also join the Scient’x Board of Directors. With this addition to the Scient’x executive team, Mr. Olivier Carli has agreed to resign as the company’s President and Chief Executive Officer on the date Mr. Huggins joins the company.

Mr. Huggins, who was selected after an extensive global search, was formerly President of Global Synthes Spine. Synthes is one of the world’s largest developers of orthopedic trauma and spinal surgical implants and instrumentation. Mr. Huggins played a key role in transforming Synthes into a global business and in making significant inroads in the USA spinal market. At Synthes, Mr. Huggins developed a worldwide standing for his emphasis on the highest standards of quality, clinical awareness and outcomes, surgeon training and the like.

Since 1994, Mr. Huggins has worked with Synthes, Inc. From 2004 to 2006, he served as the President of Global Spine and was responsible for the establishment and management one of the world’s largest spine businesses with primary focus on product development and sales. From 2000 to 2004, Mr. Huggins served as the President and Chief Operating Officer for the U.S. business. From 1998 to 2000, Mr. Huggins served as the Senior Vice President of Operations. From 1994 to 1997 he served as Vice President of Operations. Mr. Huggins held prior executive positions at various manufacturing companies and served as Senior Auditor for Arthur Anderson & Co. Mr. Huggins holds a B.S. in Accounting from Villanova University and an M.B.A. from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
