ROCKAWAY, N.J., Feb. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- The Spring 2005 Laboratory Design conference, organized by the editors of Laboratory Design Newsletter and R&D Magazine, will be held March 28-30, at the JW Marriott Hotel/Galleria, Houston (on Westheimer by the Galleria).
Recognized expert speakers will present the latest information on topics that include energy recovery systems, design of specialized labs (biocontainment, vivariums, medical/research, forensics, academia, and more), right-sizing your HVAC system, European design trends, and building code issues.
The event kicks off on March 28th with an exciting keynote presentation: Working With Starchitects: Lessons Learned, by Victoria Sirianni of MIT. Ms. Sirianni will present her first-hand experiences in the hiring and working with big-name architects, and the benefits and pitfalls of these experiences.
On March 29th winners of the 39th annual Lab of the Year award will be presented, including detailed information and images of all the winners. The conference will also include a comprehensive analysis of trends revealed in this year’s competition. On March 30th tours to the MD Anderson Cancer Center/George and Cynthia Mitchell Research Building and the Texas Medical Center/Baylor Nabisco Research Facility will be offered. The Anderson Center is a 485,000-ft2 tower for basic research scheduled to open in April, while the 110,000-ft2 TMC lab is an adaptive-reuse project created in a former cookie factory at the Baylor College of Medicine.
