Point Security Company,Inc. Release: Healthcare Security Expert To Speak At Hospital Security Seminar On June 16 At The Hospital Council

PITTSBURGH, May 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Russell L. Colling, a nationally recognized expert in healthcare security, will deliver the keynote address at an educational seminar on the increasingly complex and challenging function of hospital security to be presented by the Hospital Council of Western Pennsylvania (HCWP) on June 16 at its conference center in Warrendale, Pa. Point Security Company, Inc., of Youngwood, Pa., a leading provider of security services for hospitals and an allied member of the HCWP, is sponsoring the seminar -- Hospital Security 2004: Opportunities & Challenges.

Based in Denver, Colorado, Mr. Colling is a principal with the consulting firm of Colling and Kramer. He is the author of several healthcare security textbooks and serves as an adjunct professor at several colleges and universities. Mr. Colling has over 40 years of experience in security design, evaluation, planning and operations and has consulted for more than 300 healthcare organizations, including hospitals, medical office buildings, clinics and parking structures. He holds a B.S. degree in criminal justice and law enforcement and a M.S. degree in healthcare security management, both from Michigan State University.

Other speakers at the June 16 seminar will be Dennis DiPerna, president and chief executive officer of Point Security Company, and Roger P. Hartung, an architect who specializes in healthcare design.

Mr. DiPerna, a retired U.S. Army Colonel with over 30 years experience in counterintelligence, law enforcement and contract security management, founded Point Security in 1995. The company now employs over 200 security officers and provides uniformed security services for several hospitals in western Pennsylvania.

Mr. Hartung is a project manager for IKM Incorporated in Pittsburgh. He has worked on design teams for projects that include the specific security problems of combining welcoming and functional environments with the challenges of security concerns.

The seminar will also include a “best practices” panel discussion moderated by Frederick V. Peterson, director of constituent services with the Hospital Council of Western Pennsylvania. Panelists will include Maureen Grey of Butler Memorial Hospital, Douglas Frankenburg of UPMC-Northwest, Mel Erickson of Meadville Medical Center, and Kim Lyons-Neel of Allegheny General Hospital.
