Philip Podmore is taking on the role of CEO with daily hands-on management responsibility for the company he founded, Oncology Services International (OSI). OSI is the largest independent service organization for radiation oncology devices, and seller of refurbished linear accelerators, in the world.
OSI’s refurbished equipment offers an alternative to clinics that are seeking reliable, leading-edge radiation oncology solutions at a significantly lower cost than OEM. The refurbished systems are backed by a comprehensive warranty and supported by the best service team in the industry for the entire lifecycle of the device.
“I’m looking forward to taking the torch back up,” Podmore said, “and resuming an executive role. I welcome the opportunity to have a higher level of daily involvement with our team and customers. After spending many years in the ‘command center’ you tend to miss that high level of engagement.”
Bill Yaeger, the company’s previous CEO, is rejoining his prior employer, Elekta, in a senior management position. During Yaeger’s tenure, Podmore served on the Board of Directors and was directly involved with IT projects.
Podmore founded Accelinear Service Company in 1985, followed by a 2003 merger that resulted in the formation of Oncology Services International. In addition to 14 years as an electronics apprentice with the Royal Air Force, Podmore has over 30 years of experience in the radiation industry, holding positions at Philips Medical Systems and the Joint Centre in Boston.
Podmore emphasized that the change in management will have no effect on the operational aspects of the business. “Bill brought new insights and operating processes to OSI, and that legacy will remain. The work that he’s done provides a strong base for continued growth and success, and we wish him all the best in his new endeavor.”
