Moores UCSD Cancer Center: New Technology to Treat Breast Cancer Shows Promise in Early Application

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Physicians at the Rebecca and John Moores UCSD Cancer Center will present the initial outcomes of their use of a new device that delivers radiation therapy to a specific tumor site at the annual meeting of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), November 25-30, 2007, in Chicago, Illinois. The Moores UCSD Cancer Center is one of the first medical facilities in the nation to offer patients this new form of breast conservation therapy, which combines surgery and radiation to treat breast cancer while preserving as much of the breast tissue as possible.
