TIMONIUM, Md., Feb. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- The Mid-Atlantic Venture Association today announced that applications are currently being accepted from companies to present at BioConnection 2005 and Capital Connection 2005 venture fairs being held May 31 and May 31-June 1, 2005 respectively, at the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront Hotel in Baltimore, MD. This marks the first year MAVA has offered a distinct venture fair specifically designed for life sciences companies and follows more than a year of effort in which MAVA has been working closely with life science investors and entrepreneurs in the mid- Atlantic region to better serve their needs. BioConnection will feature the most promising emerging life sciences companies from the mid-Atlantic region, and will be attended by sector-specific investors from around the region.
East Coast technology and life sciences companies seeking capital are encouraged to submit their business plans now to the Mid-Atlantic Venture Association via the organization's web site (http://www.mava.org/) for consideration.
Among the many benefits an entrepreneur will enjoy once selected to present at a MAVA venture fair are expert coaching in fundraising strategy, invaluable networking opportunities and the forum to establish their companies as leaders in their sector. Companies that apply by March 25th can take advantage of the fairs' unique pre-selection Entrepreneur & VC Networking Reception to be held in Washington, DC. CEOs of early applicants are invited to this exclusive event that provides exceptional access to the region's top investors.
Developed by venture capitalists for venture capitalists, MAVA's fairs provide multiple venues for the interaction of venture investors, service providers and entrepreneurs. For nearly 20 years, MAVA has helped shape the region's entrepreneurial economy, generating more than $2.4 billion of venture investments for participating companies. Some of the region's biggest success stories -- AOL, Ciena, Corvis, UUNet, Blackboard and webMethods -- have all presented at the association's annual fairs.
