Mercy & Unity Hospitals Release: Healing Touch For Cardiac Patients

COON RAPIDS, Minn., Sept. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Learn more about Healing Touch, an energy-based therapeutic approach to health and healing that complements traditional medicine at the next Cardiac Club meeting, Thursday, Oct. 7, 7 p.m. at Unity Hospital, John Haines Auditorium. The program is presented by The Cardiac Centers of Mercy & Unity Hospitals.

Julie Henderson, an occupational therapist at Mercy Hospital, will lead a discussion on Healing Touch and how it can help cardiac patients. She also will teach participants techniques to help reduce pain and stress. Henderson is a Healing Touch practitioner trained in the energy techniques of Spring Forest Qi Gong and Integrated Energy Therapy.

According to Henderson, some of the benefits of healing touch and other energy work include: pain relief, reduction of stress and anxiety, faster wound healing, support for the dying process, physical and mental relaxation, and promotion of a sense of well-being.

The Cardiac Club provides current information on heart disease and other health care topics. Meetings are open to the public and feature a presentation with time for questions/discussion, socializing and refreshments. The group meets monthly (except June, July and August).
