Kryptiq Corporation And GE Healthcare Sell ClinicalMessenger(TM) To Community Health Networks To Extend Reach Of Electronic Medical Records

PORTLAND, Ore., Feb. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Members of the Community Health Network (CHN) in central Indiana, ranked among the top 20 integrated health care networks in the nation, will become the first in the region to benefit from a new method of sharing health information. Kryptiq Corporation today announced that CHN is deploying the company's secure messaging platform to enhance its existing GE Centricity(R) Physician Office electronic medical record system and enable electronic sharing of patient information across the community. GE Healthcare has partnered with Kryptiq to resell Kryptiq's solutions to its new and existing customers through the GE national sales force. Kryptiq's neutral messaging platform integrates with the Centricity Physician Office electronic medical record system and will allow CHN users to share information across electronic medical record (EMR) systems throughout the community in alignment with the vision outlined by Dr. David Brailer, National Coordinator of Healthcare IT, for accelerating EMR adoption and interconnecting healthcare professionals.

Dave Henriksen, general manager for GE's Physician Office Business, validated the value of the Kryptiq solutions to the healthcare industry, saying, "As EMR adoption grows, the industry will increasingly need solutions that enable electronic information to be shared across whole communities, including different vendor's systems. We see Kryptiq as a valuable partner in GE's standards based interoperability strategy to enable the growth of digital communities."

Since implementing the Centricity EMR, CHN has focused on achieving internal efficiency improvements at many of its 60 care facilities. With this agreement, CHN is now broadening its use of the EMR to include improving the efficiency of communications among these separate locations of care and with the wider community.

"We carefully looked at our options when choosing the joint Kryptiq-GE solution," said Betty Eads, director of physician information systems at Community Health Network. "Our doctors don't want to copy and paste or spend time thinking about how to use the technology in their daily practices, they want to focus on caring for patients. The Kryptiq solutions integrate secure messaging inside Centricity Physician Office EMR and provide a healthcare portal for our patients that give them secure access to their electronic medical record. This creates a connected workflow that makes sense for our Community Physicians of Indiana network practice physician group and the 500 physicians in our affiliated network."

According to Eads, by focusing on meeting Community's requirement for physician and staff usability, the combined solution will deliver efficiency improvements by enabling workflows previously accomplished by phone, fax, and paper, to now occur electronically. Examples include electronic delivery of lab results to patients, online patient scheduling, online renewal of medications, and the sharing of patient data for referrals with other physicians in the region. This will increase efficiency and reduce redundancy, while helping to ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.

"Discontinuities occur when electronic medical record users interact with people outside of their practice, creating significant barriers to the effectiveness and efficiency of EMRs," said Tyler Blitz, director of product marketing for Kryptiq. "Kryptiq is in the business of removing these barriers by providing standards-based neutral connectivity solutions for EMR systems that allow patient information to be shared conveniently by users in a community setting, wherever it is needed."
