Kenes Exhibitions Release: Biotechnology Industry Gearing Up For Bio-Tech Israel 2004 Conference And Exhibition

TEL AVIV, Israel--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 19, 2004--Kenes, a specialist in global congress organization and association management services, is proud to announce that the Bio-Tech Israel 2004 - Third National Biotechnology Week will take place at The Israel Trade Fairs and Convention Center, Tel Aviv on 4-6 May, 2004. The conference and exhibition is one of the highlights of the biotech year with leading members of the biotech industry attending from around the world.

“I am delighted to invite esteemed members of the biotechnology world to Bio-Tech Israel 2004 in May,” stated Professor Michael Sela, Chairperson of the Bio-Tech Israel 2004 Conference. “Notwithstanding the obvious difficulties, the Israeli biotechnology community is witness to a steady progress, and this demands a forum where scientists in the various biotechnology areas can meet with entrepreneurs, physicians, legal and patent advisors, as well as regulators and corporate executives. The constructive dialogue is needed more than ever, resulting, hopefully, in a dynamic flow and exchange among conference participants.”

The conference will include four plenary lectures, three by visiting scientific business leaders and one by a leading Israeli industrialist. It will include sessions on gene diseases, devices in medicine, stem cells and therapy, gene therapy, immunotherapy, neurobiology, nanobiotech, bioinformatics, agricultural biotech, and structural biology. It will also include a special session on future challenges in biotechnology and a round table on the tortuous progress in biotech.

The business track will provide an overview of the state of the global biotech industry, with specific emphasis on key pharma and biotech trends. It will also focus on the challenges and opportunities facing the Israeli industry, and propose a framework for value generation. In addition, the conference will provide the audience with an opportunity to interact with some of Israel’s most promising biotech companies.

Bio-Tech Israel 2004 has been organized in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Scientist at the Ministry of Industry and Trade, MATIMOP - The Israeli Industry Center for Research and Development and The Israel Export and International Cooperation Institute.

The conference has been sponsored by Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky, and Popeo, PC; Teva Pharmaceutical Industries; Ehrlich & Partners; PriceWaterhouseCoopers (Kesselman & Kesselman); LifeScience Transactions Support; IBM Israel and BioMedic. Media partners for the event include the Israel Venture Capital Research Center, BioIsrael.com and the The Journal of Biolaw & Business.
