RADFORD, Va., Jan. 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- New River Pharmaceuticals Inc. announced today that James P. Shaffer has been appointed the company’s Vice President, Sales and Marketing, effective February 1, 2007. Operating from Raleigh, N.C., he will report to Krish S. Krishnan, New River’s Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer.
Krishnan remarked, “Jim is a welcome addition to New River’s leadership team. His 18 years of experience in sales and marketing position him well to lead the establishment of a sales force in preparation for our anticipated launch of Vyvanse.”
Shaffer comes to New River from Prestwick Pharmaceuticals, where he served since 2004 as Senior Director, Commercial Operations and was instrumental in preparing to launch the company’s first CNS drug in the U.S. Prior to that, he worked at InterMune as National Sales Director. He has also held positions at GlaxoSmithKline Inc. and Merck Human Health Division. He holds an M.B.A. in marketing from Ohio State University.
