Inion Signs Canadian Distribution Agreement With Citagenix

OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma, June 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Inion, the leading European Biomaterials company, announced today the signing of a distribution agreement with Citagenix of Canada. The agreement concerns the innovative Inion GTR Membrane. The Inion GTR Membrane is the first-ever membrane that is soft when applied but becomes rigid once fixed in position. The key advantage of this is the ability to maintain space between soft tissue & bone. This, in turn, allows for a large bone volume to be regenerated.

Secondly, preclinical studies undertaken with the Inion GTR membrane suggest a bioactive potential which facilitates faster bone regeneration. This is due to a bioactive agent present in the membrane which elutes out after implantation.

Until now, these features have not been available with a resorbable membrane. From today Canadian Dental Surgeons will be able to use the resorbable Inion GTR membrane to augment bone in the jaw and to ensure excellent re-growth of bone after, for example, extractions.

According to Steven M Sullivan, D.D.S., Clinical Professor & Chairman, Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Oklahoma: “The resorbable guided tissue regeneration (GTR) membrane developed by Inion has, in preclinical studies, suggested bioactivity that no other membrane on the market currently possesses. This GTR membrane is revolutionary in this regard and brings us several steps closer in the quest for the ideal material that facilitates bone regeneration around teeth and dental implants.”

Uwe Tritthardt, president and CEO of Citagenix, commented: “The introduction of this cutting edge technology is a first in the dental arena and Citagenix is proud to be involved. Resorbable membranes are widely used by most of our clinicians but the ability for this product to maintain space sets it apart from the competition.”

Kent Williams, US General Manager of Inion Inc., commented: “We are delighted to enter into this agreement with a company as forward thinking & proactive as Citagenix. This partnership is an exciting development of our North American business and we look forward to working together to bring Inion’s innovations to the Canadian market.”
