LOUISVILLE, Ky., Sept. 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Humana Inc. announced today that Humana Military Healthcare Services (HMHS) is continuing its support and services for Louisiana and Texas TRICARE beneficiaries affected by the most recent devastation of Hurricane Rita.
“We understand the tremendous efforts the country has taken to help in the rebuilding the cities and towns along the Gulf Coast after Hurricane Katrina wreaked havoc in these areas,” said David J. Baker, president and CEO of HMHS. “We realize the considerable damage that most recently occurred and empathize with our many employees, beneficiaries and fellow citizens who are suffering as a result of this latest natural disaster. Rest assured that we will continue to support all TRICARE beneficiaries aligned with the South Region, regardless of where they may have been forced to evacuate.”
Just as HMHS collaborated with the Department of Defense to implement several policy changes following Hurricane Katrina, the company has again partnered with the government to ensure that beneficiaries affected by Hurricane Rita retain their TRICARE benefits during the recovery period.
TRICARE beneficiaries should continue to utilize the HMHS’ Customer Service line at 1-800-444-5445 for questions or to locate a TRICARE Service Center closest to their current physical location. However, due to the mandatory evacuations, excessive damage and lack of electricity, TRICARE Service Centers in Galveston, Texas, as well as Fort Polk, Alexandria, and New Orleans, Louisiana will be closed until further notice.
