HIMSS, DALLAS, Texas, February 15 /PRNewswire/ -- - iCONSULT puts FIRST Consult and other evidence-based, clinical information directly into the Healthvision electronic health record
Healthvision, a leading healthcare Internet company and Elsevier, the world’s leading medical publisher today announce that they have enhanced their strategic partnership by offering Elsevier’s iCONSULT service as part of the Healthvision electronic health record (EHR). iCONSULT delivers real-time clinical decision support by putting evidence-based, point-of-care clinical reference directly into the electronic workflow of health practitioners.
“Elsevier’s iCONSULT service will add valuable medical information into the Healthvision electronic health record for use by physicians when they need the information most,” said Scott Decker, Healthvision Chief Executive Officer. “This combination is exactly what physicians need to enhance the quality of decision-making if they want to increase the quality of healthcare. This information readily available in the EHR, provides instant access to data on diagnoses, therapy options, and patient education - without the need to leave our EHR environment.”
Healthvision’s customers will be offered iCONSULT through a seamless integration into the Healthvision applications. Customers will be able to add iCONSULT to their current electronic health record by the second quarter of this year.
Healthvision has been building Connected Healthcare Communities (CHC’s) for more than five years. This effort and the focus on Regional Health Information Organizations (RHIO’s) requires secure sharing of a patient record. Information that helps clinical decision support will benefit the entire connected community by providing more valuable information to physicians any time anywhere they need it to make more informed decisions.
Elsevier, a world-leading science and medical publisher, developed iCONSULT to integrate its clinical reference content directly into the electronic health record and enhance clinical decision support. FIRSTConsult, Elsevier’s premier point of care medical reference tool will be the first product enabled to work in Healthvision electronic health record through the iCONSULT service. FIRSTConsult is part of the MD Consult Clinical Knowledge System and provides immediate access to continuously updated evidence-based information on evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of a variety of disease categories, assisting health practitioners to make immediate medical decisions.
“This will strengthen our current partnership with HEALTHvision and will support health providers with critical medical information. Partnerships like this are part of our overall strategy to put more and more relevant clinical information directly at the point of care. We are very excited that Healthvision shares our vision to assist the medical community in improving the consistency and quality of decision-making in the hospital and medical practice,” says Brian Nairn, CEO, Health Sciences, Elsevier.
