HCA Appoints Michael P. Joyce President Of Southeast Division

NASHVILLE, Tenn., June 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- HCA today announced the appointment of Michael P. Joyce as President of HCA's Southeast Division in Atlanta, Ga., effective July 1. He replaces Charlie Evans, who recently became President of HCA's Eastern Group.

In his new position, Joyce will report to Evans and have operational responsibility for 19 hospitals and 12 outpatient surgery centers in Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina. He was previously Chief Executive Officer of HCA's Trident Health System in Charleston, S.C.

"Michael is an exceptional leader who is deeply familiar with HCA's culture," said Evans. "His experience as CEO of three HCA hospitals, including a multi-hospital system, will serve him well in his new role as Southeast Division President."

A 17-year veteran of the company, Joyce, 41, began his career with HCA at Trident Health System as an administrative resident in 1987 and was promoted to Vice President, Operations after four months. He later served as CEO of Summerville Medical Center in Summerville. S.C. from 1992 to 1995 and St. Lucie Medical Center in Port St. Lucie, Fla. from 1995 to 1998. He was named CEO at Trident Health System, which includes three medical centers, seven diagnostic centers and a senior health center, in 1998.

Joyce earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Notre Dame in 1984 and a master's in healthcare administration from Washington University School of Medicine in 1987. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
