ForteBio Expands Management Team

MENLO PARK, Calif., Dec. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- ForteBio, Inc., a life sciences company providing tools for the detection and analysis of biomolecules and their interactions, today announced the strengthening of its management team to include Scott Lockard as Vice President, Engineering, a new position. Mr. Lockard will report to Winnie H. Wan, Ph.D., chief executive officer of ForteBio and will be responsible for building and managing the company's instrument development group. He joins a senior executive team of seasoned life sciences and high technology industry veterans to help guide ForteBio towards commercialization of its first products.

ForteBio, which was launched with a $5.5 million Series A financing in June as Aria Biosystems Corporation, is developing a new generation of analytical tools for the life sciences industry. Recently, the Company chose a new name to eliminate confusion with the name and product line of a long-standing life sciences company.

"Scott brings to ForteBio a breadth and depth of experience and knowledge that will help to ensure the success of our instrument product line," stated Dr. Wan. "His outstanding track record in the development and manufacturing of instrument systems for life sciences markets makes him a great addition to our founding management team."

Scott Lockard joins ForteBio from Cell Biosciences, a biotech instrumentation company he helped to found, where he was Vice President, Engineering. Previously, he held various positions and was a member of the executive staff at Molecular Dynamics and Amersham Biosciences and he also held engineering and management positions at KLA Instruments and The Singer Corp. Mr. Lockard received a BS in mechanical engineering from Virginia Tech and he holds an MBA from Santa Clara University.
