Peterson, manager of medical education for Synovis Life Technologies, Inc. , has been named chair of the American Society for Bariatric Surgery Corporate Council (ASBSCC), an arm of the non-profit organization that develops and enhances the joint policies and efforts of bariatric surgeons, healthcare professionals and industry professionals. Prior to this position, Peterson served as director-at-large of the ASBSCC. As chair, Peterson will organize and preside at all ASBSCC meetings to develop programs about bariatric surgery as an option for the treatment of morbid obesity.

Peterson has over 25 years of experience in the healthcare industry. In 1999, she joined Synovis, where she has served as a liaison between the company and individuals involved with using, developing or evaluating the company’s products. Prior to Synovis, she held management positions at Fairview Hospitals and Healthcare System for 20 years. She attended the University of St. Thomas, St. Paul, Minn., and received her bachelor’s degree in management from Cardinal Stritch University, Milwaukee, Wis.
