EHE International Partners With Entertainment Industry Foundation’s National Colorectal Cancer Research Alliance And The CDC To Encourage Screening

NEW YORK, Oct. 1, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- A window display at Rockefeller Plaza this month will emphasize the lifesaving value of colorectal cancer screening, reaching almost 250,000 people per day with this important public health message. The display, which features Katie Couric, is the latest print public service announcement (PSA) by the Entertainment Industry Foundation’s National Colorectal Cancer Research Alliance (EIF’s NCCRA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC’s) Screen for Life: National Colorectal Cancer Action Campaign.

The window space at 10 Rockefeller Plaza, donated by EHE International, will house the display throughout the month of October.

Of cancers that affect both men and women, colorectal cancer is the second-leading cancer killer in the U.S., yet when caught early, is highly curable and often entirely preventable with screening. EIF’s NCCRA, co-founded by Katie Couric, works to raise awareness about the life-saving benefits of getting screened and supports research to improve the way colon cancer is prevented, detected and treated.

“While it’s gratifying that colorectal cancer screening rates have risen steadily over the last decade, about one-third of U.S. adults for whom screening is recommended still haven’t been screened. There’s much more to do to make everyone aware that screening saves lives,” said Couric. “I’m grateful to the CDC for our long partnership in that effort, and to EHE International for its generosity in helping us get our message to the millions of people who’ll see this PSA.”

“EHE International’s commitment to prevention is closely aligned to the Screen for Life campaign and the Entertainment Industry Foundation’s mission to save lives through early detection,” said Deborah McKeever, President of EHE International.

The display was created as part of CDC’s Screen for Life campaign, which partners with EIF’s NCCRA on several awareness building activities.
