CINCINNATI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Eccrine Systems, Inc. has been awarded an $860K multi-year R&D contract by the Air Force Research Laboratory focused on the real-time, non-invasive sensing of sweat biomarkers. Eccrine will partner with the University of Cincinnati for portions of the project.

The project work will be accomplished within the Cincinnati-Dayton region and encompasses the combined resources of Eccrine, UC, and the advanced testing facilities at the AFRL. “The southwest region of Ohio is rapidly gaining prominence as the epicenter for advanced sweat sensing technologies and capabilities, driven in great part by AFRL and its focus on non-invasive monitoring of mission personnel and their physiological status,” said Jason Heikenfeld, PhD, Eccrine Chief Science Officer and principal investigator. “The Eccrine team and our UC colleagues are excited to leverage our combined capabilities in concert with the AFRL research team.”
The awarded R&D project starts in the fourth quarter of 2015 and continues into the second half of 2017.
