Detroit Economic Club Release: CEO Of World’s Largest Research-Based Pharmaceutical Company To Discuss ‘Sick-Care’ vs. Health Care; DEC Hosts Pfizer Inc. Chair & CEO Hank McKinnell On Monday, Feb. 13, 2006

DETROIT, Feb. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Chair and CEO Hank McKinnell of Pfizer Inc, the world's largest research-based pharmaceutical company, will discuss remedies he believes will improve the status of America's healthcare system during the next Detroit Economic Club meeting on Monday, Feb. 13, 2006. McKinnell will reveal new approaches for changing "sick-care" to "well care" at the meeting, which will take place at noon at the Burton Manor in Livonia, Michigan. A press briefing will take place at 1:30 p.m.

McKinnell said he believes America's healthcare system is overly focused on managing sickness, rather than addressing the long-term health care needs of patients. On Monday, McKinnell will provide his vision for a new approach to health care.

"His talk is timely for employers grappling with the costs of care for their workers," said DEC President Beth Chappell. "DEC is delighted to host McKinnell and have him address such an important issue."
