The China Food and Drug Administration is making good on its promise to speed up the drug approval process: it has posted a notice seeking to recruit an additional 69 people to review drug approval submissions. If they all are hired, it would represent an almost 50% increase in staffing. In May, China's State Council told the CFDA's Center for Drug Evaluation the 21,000+ application backlog must not grow larger in 2016, and the entire backlog must be dealt with by 2018.
