BETHLEHEM, PA--(Marketwired - February 25, 2016) - With a keen focus on improving patient and clinician safety and enhancing healthcare outcomes through its latest technologies, B. Braun Medical Inc. will showcase its innovative portfolio of products at the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Conference and Exhibition, Feb. 29 - March 4 in Las Vegas.
“We’ll be featuring six use-case scenarios at the show,” said Mike Golebiowski, Vice President of Marketing, Automation and Infusion Systems at B. Braun Medical. “We look forward to the opportunity to interact with other healthcare professionals at HIMSS and demonstrate how our products and technology are used in the same kind of clinical scenarios our customers face every day.”
Intelligent Health Pavilion (Booth #11655):
In the Intelligent Health Pavilion, B. Braun will showcase its new macro and micro compounder -- APEX™ Compounding System. Used in conjunction with its own clinical decision support software TPN Manager with Trissel’s™ Ca/P Safety Check Software, APEX compounds TPN, CRRT, and Cardioplegia. From its larger, brighter screen, and 26-lead preassembled sets to its dual-drive filling technology and automated delivery as low as 0.2 mL, APEX is designed to outperform existing compounders. Through its browser-based TPN Manager software, healthcare providers can enter parenteral nutrition orders at the patient’s bedside using an iPad or other tablet computer and electronically transmit those orders directly to the APEX compounder. The direct communication is designed to help reduce manual programming errors, eliminate transcription errors, and expedite patient care.
Additionally, B. Braun will demonstrate real-time infusion insight through its PharmView application and real-time wireless reporting with its DoseTrac® Infusion Management Software. The company also will showcase the benefits of its second-generation, large-volume Infusomat® Space Pump when wirelessly integrated with a healthcare providers EMR system by demonstrating its AutoComplete™ Integrated EMR functions. AutoComplete includes auto-programming, auto-documentation and auto-notification -- the highest level of integration on B. Braun’s Synchronized Intelligence™ Infusion Platform and the first and only, wireless integrated technology system for IV pump infusion that is IHE certified for all three AutoComplete integration functions.
The pump is the first step to a wireless, integrated technology system that ultimately can help clinicians achieve 100% drug library compliance, minimize medication errors and reduce alarms and alerts. Its compact and intuitive design allows for flexibility and easy transport within a healthcare facility, promoting efficiencies in hospital or outpatient settings.
On Thursday, March 3rd at 1:45 p.m. in the Innovation Theater, Karen Corrick, BSN, RN, from Great River Health Systems, will talk about the benefits of IV pump integration with an EMR system (Cerner’s CareAware®).
Interoperability Showcase (#11954):
B. Braun will demonstrate its auto-programming and auto-documentation with an EMR system (Epic’s Software); its auto-notification with a mobile nurse call system (Philips); and the RFID technology attached to its Infusomat Space pump, including tracking a pump that will be roaming the tradeshow floor (GuardRFID Solutions Inc.'s RFID).
In addition, First Databank will demonstrate at its booth (#1143) how the company’s evidence-based FDB Infusion Knowledge™ powers B. Braun Medical’s DoseGuard™ drug library dose error reduction software within the Infusomat Space Pump.
