Blue Cross Blue Shield Of Hawaii Selects Verity TeleForm MediClaim To Automate Processing Of Medical Forms

SUNNYVALE, Calif., May 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Verity Inc. , a leading provider of enterprise software that enables organizations to maximize the return on their intellectual capital investment, today announced that Hawaii Medical Service Association (HMSA) will deploy Verity’s TeleForm(R) MediClaim(TM) content capture solution to streamline forms processing in both paper and electronic formats. HMSA is an independent licensee of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association (BCBSA).

After an extensive evaluation of content capture and forms processing vendors, HMSA -- the largest provider of health care coverage in Hawaii -- selected Verity to enhance the processing of its standardized healthcare information forms, such as HCFA 1500 and UB 92 claim forms as well as its non-standard forms for enrollment and correspondence.

HMSA’s initial use of Verity’s sophisticated process-automation features will focus on capturing the medical claims into an electronic format and then transitioning all claims to MediClaim. The expected results are greater accuracy and efficiency achieved in less time. The goals for the project include improving claims productivity rates and achieving economies of scale by automating the processes associated with additional forms and documents.

“We will be able to reduce processing and data entry costs using Verity TeleForm MediClaim to automate our manual processes,” said Gordon Hilton, HMSA’s chief information officer. “The real value will be in Verity’s ease of use, giving us the ability to implement solutions quickly, enjoy rapid user adoption, and process a wide variety of form types with form identification features that will reduce processing time.”

Verity’s open systems approach allows the local BCBSA affiliate to integrate easily with Documentum, enabling the organization to transfer form data directly into its existing document management system. This will significantly reduce the costs associated with archiving data and the production, storage and retrieval of paper forms.

“Verity MediClaim makes medical claims processing more efficient, allowing health care payers to enhance customer satisfaction, increase throughput and capacity, and vastly improve accuracy and quality,” said Anthony J. Bettencourt, Verity’s president and CEO.
