Blue Cross And Blue Shield of Minnesota Release: Time To Nominate Champions Of Health

EAGAN, Minn., Aug. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Do you know someone who makes your workplace or community healthier? Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota (Blue Cross) is looking to champion those people and organizations that make a healthy difference, with its Champions of Health Awards program. Now in its fifth year, the program awards each champion $500 for the 501(c)(3) health program of their choice, along with local and statewide recognition of the champions’ work.

In addition to the usual nominations, Blue Cross is putting special focus on efforts to promote healthy worksites this year, and encourages nominations for individuals and organizations that are making their companies or organizations better, healthier places to work.

Who/What: Any person, organization or business that has gone the extra mile to make their Minnesota community or worksite a healthier place. Here are some ideas: -- Began a worksite program that improved the health of employees -- Raised awareness or educated people about a health issue -- Pursued a cause to help people stay healthy -- Motivated people to work together for the health of the community -- Served as a role model for healthy behavior -- Helped raise funds for a health-related cause Why: By recognizing Champions of Health, Blue Cross aims to raise awareness of the healthy difference their activities have made, and the importance of healthy communities and workplaces in Minnesota.
