Bivarus Offers Providers Qualified Clinical Data Registry to Satisfy PQRS Requirements

New Reporting Mechanism Beneficial to Multi-Specialty Clinics, Captures Patient Experience in Real-Time

DURHAM, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Bivarus, a patient-centered analytics company, announced today the availability of its new qualified clinical data registry (QCDR), the Structured Assessment of the Patient Experience (SAPE) QCDR. Now, health care organizations can improve the patient experience with meaningful, actionable data while satisfying Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS) requirements.

“With the Bivarus SAPE QCDR, the same registry format is used for all clinical subspecialties, and clients can customize report outcomes by individual provider, department, specialty or organization.”

QCDRs were introduced by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) as a reporting mechanism in 2014. QCDRs complete collection and submission of data for PQRS quality measures on behalf of providers so they can meet the criteria for satisfactorily participating in 2015 PQRS; they also provide an opportunity to collect specific data for multiple payers, not only Medicare, that can help to improve clinical performance.

The SAPE QCDR, powered by Bivarus, satisfies PQRS requirements for QCDRs by recording performance based on patient feedback completed in near-real time. In addition, the SAPE QCDR has three distinct advantages over other reporting mechanisms:

  • The SAPE QCDR is not clinically specific, making it perfect for eligible professionals in multi-specialty groups
  • The SAPE QCDR truly captures the patient experience via patient-reported data
  • The SAPE QCDR is easy to implement

“The majority of QCDRs currently available have been developed for specific clinical specialties, such as anesthesiology, radiology or oncology. If your practice encompasses different specialties, multiple QCDRs must be integrated into your system, incurring large fees and cumbersome reporting structures,” observed Dave Levin, CEO of Bivarus. “With the Bivarus SAPE QCDR, the same registry format is used for all clinical subspecialties, and clients can customize report outcomes by individual provider, department, specialty or organization.”

With the SAPE QCDR, all patients are asked to provide feedback via email or SMS following their health care experience. As a result, there is greater potential to provide a better picture of the overall quality of care as well as implement data-backed CQI initiatives. In addition, SAPE QCDR is a cloud-based system requiring only minimal integration with an EHR for provider information.
