bioVIGIL Names Peter Mojica Chief Technology Officer & CIO

LAS VEGAS, April 29, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- bioVIGIL, the company that reduces healthcare-associated infections through enhanced hand-washing compliance, today announced that Peter Mojica has been named Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and CIO. Mojica is a visionary technical executive and a research and development expert in the fields of compliance, risk management and social sciences with demonstrated success creating, building and launching enterprise class products for domestic and international markets.

Mojica will report to Jason Howe, CEO of bioVIGIL, and will be responsible for orchestrating and driving the company’s product vision, innovation, technology architecture and overall strategy.

He most recently served as an advisory board member and vice president of product management at Awarepoint Corporation, a leading provider of enterprise awareness and Real Time Location Solutions (RTLS) for major healthcare systems. Before he joined Awarepoint, Mojica was the General Manager for AXS-One, a publicly traded software company in Rutherford, NJ. There he headed product strategy, management, product development, global partner strategy, business development and marketing. During his five+ years at AXS-One, Mojica led the company’s exponential growth to a 1,200% stock value increase over a two-year rapid growth period. During Mojica’s visionary leadership, the company’s newly developed software product lines grew revenues from $2 million to nearly $100 million.

Previously, he led all research and development efforts at First Union National Bank, in Charlotte, NC, which was the 4th largest bank in the United States during his tenure. There he created and led the bank’s most advanced technology teams in the use of technologies for corporate competitive advantage for all capital markets divisions. As a recognized storage, archive and networking expert Mojica has served as Chair and co-Chair of various committees for the Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA)-Data Management Forum. At SNIA he co-developed and published the groundbreaking “100 Year Archive Survey Requirements” study and contributed to the Blue Ribbon Task Force research paper on “Sustainable Digital Preservation and Access,” led by a 17-member group of experts from economics, computer science, libraries, archives and museums, with funding and support from the U.S. National Science Foundation and Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.

Mojica’s technology innovations have achieved leading visionary product rankings on multiple Gartner Magic Quadrants. He has been nominated to the Computerworld Smithsonian Awards (CWSA) for visionary use of information technology by Dell Computer Corporation and he has been awarded the SNIA (Storage Networking Industry Association) Data Management Forum Leadership Award.

As an internationally recognized technologist and business leader Mojica brings more than 25 years of commercial software development, engineering, management, and marketing experience to bioVIGIL.

“Peter is exactly the right leader for bioVIGIL,” said bioVIGIL’s Chief Executive Officer, Jason Howe. “I believe that great companies are often the results of original thinking, and given the future ubiquity of hand-hygiene compliance within the healthcare continuum, we have an opportunity to completely re-imagine the experience. With his extensive technology and visionary background Peter brings this capability to bioVIGIL and more importantly he has a long track record of delivering innovative yet practical solutions that work in the real world and solve hard customers’ problems. His strong management experience will help shape bioVIGIL as we continue our growth and global expansion. And most importantly for anyone taking on the new CTO role at bioVIGIL Peter is a natural fit with our corporate culture.”
