AUSTIN, Texas, Jan. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Biophysical Corporation announced today the availability of the BiophysicalCheck, an annual program of biomarker surveillance that can help identify some common medical conditions, including heart disease and cancer, that are usually missed in standard annual physicals. Through the evaluation of specific biomarkers, individuals and their doctors have a new tool to aid in diagnosis and to track their health status.
In the first stage of the BiophysicalCheck program, biomarkers that can indicate the presence of over 25 chronic medical conditions are evaluated. These conditions are usually more manageable in their earliest stages, but can be life-threatening if left untreated. In subsequent years, the program focuses on biomarkers associated with heart disease and cancer, evaluating their rate of change from one year to the next. Since the levels of these biomarkers can increase throughout the progression of the disease, finding changes that deviate from a client’s established baseline can allow the earliest possible detection of a potentially dangerous condition. Combined, the diseases that are screened by the BiophysicalCheck program account for over 75 percent of deaths in the US every year.
“Creating a cost-effective program to aid in the detection of diseases that account for a large percentage of the deaths in the US every year is an important step for Biophysical,” said Dr. George Rodgers, chief medical officer and president of Biophysical Corporation. “The BiophysicalCheck allows the individual to establish their own unique baseline or ‘normal’ level for each biomarker. Once a person’s baseline levels are established, regular checks for increases serve as a great source of information when it comes to the pre-symptomatic detection of disease.”
In the BiophysicalCheck program, a person has a small sample of blood collected every year. Each year’s samples are analyzed side by side with the sample from the previous year.
BiophysicalCheck will initially be available through an employee’s corporation. Biophysical Check is $695 per person per test and can be ordered in conjunction with a company’s health and wellness benefits program.
